Engineering physics or software engineering?

Hey guys, I’m going to miami this fall but i’m still wondering which major i should choose. Even though i love both, I think i’m gonna go with the one with greater job opportunity. So which one do you guys think will give me more chance to find a job. Thank you in advance.

FWIW, I’m an Ivy-league trained engineer with 30+ years in information services.

ANY STEM will provide marketable opportunities, so go with your interest and also be open to switching majors as you explore what Miami has to offer. You’re not locked-in to your choice and being undecided is OK. Employers want creative problem solvers that collaborate with their colleagues.

I strongly recommend taking your liberal arts electives seriously; philosophy, history, literature, psychology, sociology, etc. Take courses that take you out of your comfort zone and push you. This TED video reinforces this recommendation: http://www.ted.com/talks/denis_dutton_a_darwinian_theory_of_beauty

To prep yourself for Miami, watch as many TED videos as you can. It was a recommendation I made to two of my children attending Miami and they graduated at the top of their programs.

Finally, the #1 course that I would recommend is a personal finance course. It’s amazing how many college graduates are financially illiterate. See: http://www.forbes.com/sites/robertfarrington/2014/07/16/the-financial-literacy-gap-costs-college-graduates-thousands/
