engineering physics?

When my son and I visited RHIT, one of the professors manning a booth was very excited about engineering physics and said it is 'very hot' nowadays. Anyone know anything about engineering physics -

what is it, what does it do (its scope and mission),
what colleges are good at teaching it,
what kind of jobs can you do after getting an UG degree in it , that is , what can you expect to do afterwards?
is it true that it is very hot? and why?

-for example?

thanks for any info
