Also what if I was waitlisted for the Pharmacy school and if the slight change i get in. Should I take that placement test too or are they the same?

Thank you!!!

For engineering, you will be assigned a day to come in and take the tests you need to. They will send you an information packet with everything, including scheduling. (you do not need to go to an APA Day like SAS students.) All Rutgers schools use the same placement tests, so just take the ones you need and you’ll be fine.

Math placement test for SAS and Engineering are different. If you come on SAS testing, you will have to sit an extra hour to take Engineering addendum…(that’s what engineering office told me). English is the same, though.

@koto Ohhhh. So i signed up like 2 days ago and there was an “Engineering Only” slot for May 1st on Busch Campus at 11 am. Do we have to take a another one in the summer or something?

@collegebiomed Do you know how long the math section is?

Thanks guys!!
@drexeler did you get a packet or did you just sign up online? I guess we don’t have to wait for the packet then?

Drexeler, did you really enroll at Rutgers? Then change to RutgersBound…lol

I don’t really know how long the tests are.

drexeler: ohh, well, if you signed up for an engineering only one, I guess they changed the system. they used to assign a certain day you had to be there for testing. no, you don’t have to take another unless you would like to place into a higher language class. I took a spanish placement test on a different date.

the math section I think has two sections, from five to six sides of paper each. they might have changed it… but for placement tests, don’t worry. the hardest thing on there is basic logarithms; it is really not worth worrying about.

i have been accepted from like november and i paid my deposite before 1 month. However, i didnt get anything in mail regarding placement tests or housing. What should i do? I got tired of waiting and decided to register for placement test on may 1st{only engineering}.

Also, anyone who already took the test… Can you tell us what the essay topic was? (if you are allowed to ) Thank you!

@koto So today I got that packet in the mail you were talking about. I’m in the last half of the alphabet, and the little book says I have to come in on May 8th. But the only day for engineers to sign up on Busch Campus is the 1st. I guess I’ll just show up on the 1st and see what happens.

Sign up for what?

I signed up for the May 1st at Hill Center

yeah, i’m worried, is it harder than the SAT… omg, i’m worried that I might not get placed into expository or calc 1. omg omg.

@koto Oh haha the placement test, sorry I didn’t make that clear :P

how should i prepare for it? I took the practice one on their web but it is too easy. Also, they have like 5 questions… I am not worried about math section. I want some help for english section from people who already took it. PLEASE!! How long is the english section? What kind of essay is there? (I am scared that i will not be able to write one in 20 minutes??) Thank you!!

Do engineering students have to take the foreign language placement test?

no, they don’t. Someone answer my questions please!!! i am taking placement test in 4 days…

I heard it’s easier than the SAT, but then again, could just be rumor.

However, I also took the practice test, I knew all of the math problem on there.

I think it comes down to whether you know it or you don’t, from going through 4 years of high school.

The english part is what I am afraid of the most.

hey how was the math portion of the engineering placement testfor rutgers?

^ It was pretty easy. It was mostly stuff I learned in the beginning of precalculus. Just take it seriously, when I took mine a lot of people treated it like a joke.

^ Yeah. Some kids got up like 10 minutes after the test was handed out… I don’t know if they finished that fast or just gave up. We had about 50 minutes left. :o
