Anyone go to the Engineering Preview Day before? I'm going tomorrow and I was wondering what exactly we do. Are students and parents together or do they have separate events?

Are you doing the engineering preview or the Spring Open House for admitted students?

Open House [University of Maryland -](http://www.admissions.umd.edu/admitted/springopenhouse.cfm)
also has a link to a sample agenda.

The Open House is for students and parents. I think the engineering preview is just in the Fall but Engineering also has information sessions every Friday.

No, I’m going to this one.

@yodelo, now that you’ve gone, can you share the answer to the question about whether it’s just for students or parents go also. How was it? What did you do?

Sure!

It was a pretty long event. 2 hours of meet and greet, where both students and parents mingle with current engineering students and faculty to learn more about upcoming events, opportunities and different programs available.

During that 2 hour time frame, there was a Women in engineering program that was available.

Then, the last 2 hours the parents and students split up. Both learned more about the various departments, but the students also worked on a team project together. The project was definitely the best part and totally worth going :)

I thought it was a fantastic opportunity! I met a lot of people and even made a new friend! Oh- and there was plenty of pizza and soda for everyone, 5 boxes leftover!
