I'm in a 5 year, 3 semester-a-year program at U of Louisville that culminates in a masters of engineering after 5 years. There is a required 3 semester co-op included. I was curious what other engineering programs are like? Do you go all year round? Is there a co-op required, and how fast do you get your degree?

At PSU, we have four year programs for a BS degree with the exception of AE which I believe is five years for a BS. We have two semesters per year, namely Fall and Spring for 15 weeks each. We also have two summer sessions each year for 6 weeks each which is optional for people to take more classes. Internships/co-ops are not required, but I believe everyone does it anyway. For ME, there is a five year program for a combined BS/MS with a thesis, but I believe it's really hard to get into though. I'm only a rising Sophomore, so that's all I know about my school so far.

I believe most schools follow the system lil_killer described.

And AE is for architectural engineering, not aerospace, correct?

^Yeah, that's correct.

Here at Northeastern University, we follow a 5 year program which includes 3 six-month co-ops. We have two semesters in a year ( Fall and Spring ) and two 8 week long summer terms. A tradition 4 year program as described by lil_killer is also offered but very few students pick that here since the co-op program is a major draw for most students.

I believe in ME, a 5 year BS/MS program is also offered including 2 co-ops which are required.
