Engineering question?

For Pierre, I know you are an engineering major, so........I was thinking my son could take Calc 1 and Calc 2 over the summer, here at home in New York, transfer the credits to Clemson and have an easier schedule freshman year, without the Calc classes. Do you think this is possible? If not, he may take them anyway, just to be sure he will do well in Calc 1 and 2 at Clemson. I know college Calc can be really hard, right? And he is on merit scholarship to Clemson and I want to be sure he keeps a 3.0 GPA and not lose the merit money.

MTHSC 106 (Calc I) at Clemson is not a bad class at all but MTHSC 108 (Calc II) is HARD! I actually flunked it at Clemson the first time (had to go take it at a community college over the summer, actually got an A there, then went back to Clemson to take it again the following semester to redeem my flunking grade and still barely got a B). It’s one of those classes that they make it harder than it should be. I’m not the smartest person among my peers but most people struggle to get a B or C.

Anyways, I think that would be a great idea if you could pull it off. Grades in classes at other schools don’t count towards your GPA at Clemson but it would help to get a few classes out of the way (if you feel comfortable, you could even start on MTHSC 206 (Multivariable Calculus) or 208 (Differential Equations) one of those semesters - those classes aren’t too terrible)
