Engineering Safeties/Targets/Reaches for me?

I’m very unsure on where to apply. Based purely on my credentials, where are some colleges I should be looking to apply to? I went to MIT and loved it, but I don’t think I will get in :slight_smile:

So can anyone please give me some other recommendations based on just the caliber of the college’s program? (safeties, targets, reaches)

here is a list i have compiled

Cornell
MIT
Carnegie Mellon

Looks good. All schools are within reason for applying. Id move UMich, UIUC, Purdue, and GA Tech into reaches though. Reasonable safeties would be your state schools. Don’t apply to GA Tech if you cant see yourself attending.

What was your PSAT score and what is your home state?

What kind of engineering?

Have you checked the net price calculator at each school?

A school can only be a safety if it is affordable. A school which is only affordable if you get a merit scholarship should be classified based on the difficulty of getting the scholarship, not just admission (e.g. if it is a safety for admission, but the merit scholarship you need is a reach, the school is a reach).

Great list. Eliminate Georgia Tech, you don’t need it.

Purdue is rolling, apply as soon as the application comes out you might hear in October.

Apply to MIT, Northeastern, UIUC, UMich, UMD, and Rutgers by Nov 1

If you don’t get into MIT EA, apply to Cornell, Cooper and Carnegie by Jan 1.

@albert69‌ I got a 218 and I’m in NJ

Purdue is definitely a safety, How is a reach?

What are your cost constraints?
