Engineering safeties...

Can someone suggest some engineering safeties for an asian, SAT 1 2170, and SAT 2 around 750 for Math 2 and Phy?

I currently have only Purdue as a safety...

also, any really easy applications for good engineering schools?

I remember I applied to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology back in the day because they took the common app, and the only thing I had to do then to apply was hit submit. You might of heard them if you're applying to Purdue, RHIT is also in Indiana.

Where do you live? Virginia Tech is my safety, as I'm in-state and their admissions are pretty predictable, and when I lived in CA my safety was Cal Poly SLO. Look into your state's publics, as there are some fairly good public schools that have excellent engineering programs. And if, for some reason, your main interest in Chem E, look into University of Minnesota (my low match/safety).

Chances are that your safety is your home-state public U. If there is more than one with engineering programs, then the "safest" would be the one with the easiest admissions standards. Most state Us publish the admissions requirements right on their websites. Often they are required to guarantee acceptance for certain GPA/Test Score combinations.

Another extremely safe (and cheap route) is to enroll in a guaranteed transfer program at your local community college. After completing two years there, if you have the grades required by the university, you will move directly into third year coursework at that university. One advantage of doing the first two years at a community college is that your classes will be smaller, and it will be easier to get help from your professors. A disadvantage is that it may be harder to have access to interesting research or internships.

For safety, you should pick a school that you would love to goto, provided that your SAT and grades are significantly higher than the 75th percentile. Don't just pick a safety for the sake of safety, pick a school that you like and might actually goto.

So, it's going to be hard for us to suggest any in particular, but based on your grades, I would suggest Case Western Reserve, RPI.

Case Western, RPI. Both great schools, check em out

Apply to Rose really a great engineering school

I agree with Rose Hulman, Case Western, and RPI. Rose Hulman isn't on the common app, but it's a very easy application, no essay or short answers at all. Case Western and RPI are on the common app. I don't think Case Western has a supplement (not sure though, if it is it's very minimal), and RPI has an extremely minimal supplement (the only question they ask is 50 words on what influenced your decision to apply).

Cal Poly. Incredible job placement/starting salary rate. Really an impressive school. I just applied as GE/Biomedical.

Ga Tech is a definite safety with your stats.

I wouldn't call Cal Poly a safety for anyone from outside of California, especially without knowing the OP's GPA. His SAT I is excellent, but only the CR and Math sections are counted for Cal Poly, and SAT IIs are not considered for admissions.

Agree that it's an impressive school. And the application is very easy.

Thanks everyone...

all the asians in my school are applying to purdue for engineering... its CRAZY!
