I'm an entering freshman in Biomedical Engineering. So far, I've signed up for Chem 218A and 219A, Math 175, Biomed/Chem/CompSci Engineering modules, and Intro to Intl Politics. This only adds up to 13 hours. I spoke to an adviser on the phone and he said 13 hours is sufficient but most students would take another class.

I want to have time to get into the swing of things, as going off to college is a really overwhelming change for me, but at the same time, I want to make sure I won't fall behind if I only take 4 classes first semester. I did put myself on the wait list for a lot of psych classes as well, as I really enjoy psych classes and I think I would be able to manage that, but I'm not sure how likely they are to open up.

I also have a large AP background, so I've almost already fulfilled the Liberal Arts requirement just from AP credit.

Any advice?

gjaskldfhlskdhfklasdfklahs. I did not realize we could sign up for classes yet! Your post saved me haha. How do we contact an adviser? I am sooooooo lost! which is my fault but uh yae

You can sign up without contacting an adviser. All you need to do is login to YES. You should have received a booklet in the mail with a whole bunch of registration info, and inside there’s contact information if you have questions where they’ll put you in touch with an adviser. I know exactly how you feel though, I was out of town for two weeks and came back to over 10 envelopes from Vandy, and its super overwhelming. But try sort through quick because classes are filling up. Good luck!

oh thanks, I didn’t see that number. The engineering curriculum is pretty structured like you demonstrated in your original post. So I’m just kind of trying to figure out what to take besides Calc, Chem, and the ES 140. Were you able to sign up for an Engineering Seminar? I didn’t get to sign up for the one I wanted to.

Yea, it is pretty structured. I’ll message you the number in case you have questions.

I really wanted to sign up for the Biomedical seminar but they were all closed already and registration had barely been open for 24 hours oh well.
