i want to go into premed, but im applying to the engineering school because I plan to complete college just as if I would not be a doctor because I realize not getting into medical school could happen.

im majoring in some engineering thing but plan to take classes outside my major.

is it easy to do this? like, I guess I could transfer colleges once I got in.

not sure, please help.

There are lots of threads about this subject. My son is facing the same dilemma. First, keep in mind you can major in literally any subject and still be an excellent candidate for medical school. Only a year of bio, two years of chem, math, and english are required (don't trust me as it varies from medical school to school - check it out).

The real problem is GPA. I am NOT any kind of expert, but everything I read says that med schools get SO many apps, they can't possibly take the time to distinguish a 3.9 in an easy program from a 3.4 in a tough program. With engineering, it is very, very tough to maintain GPAs above 3.5.

The bottom line is that you can certainly take the needed courses within almost any major, but you need to think about GPA.

I think my son has decided to study something he loves, and if he does not go to med school, he will go to law school or MBA.

You're very right. UVa Med is pretty good, too.

I'm not sure, but is it possible to transfer colleges? I havent submitted my app yet, but I am thinking about going into engineering because my major isnt in the college of arts and sciences.
