I am a junior in high school and I am planning on going into either mechanical or electrical engineering in college. What are the best engineering colleges or programs that I could get into with these stats:
GPA: 4.0
Weighted GPA: 4.3
SAT: 2180 (780 in math and going to take again)
ACT: 33 (going to take again)
Planning to take sat subject tests for Math II and others.
-I took the AP tests for AP calculus, AP English Language, and AP U.S. History, and I am expecting solid 4s for all plus a possible 5 in math
Course load:
-9th: H. English, H. History, Intensive Algebra 2/trig., Spanish 1, Biology, Jazz Band, Concert band.
-10th: H. English 2, H. World History, Honors Pre-Calc., Honors Physics, Spanish 2, 2 Bands.
-11th: AP English Language, AP Calculus AB (school didn’t offer BC), AP U.S. History, Chemistry 1A at community college, Spanish 3, 2 Bands
-12th (what I plan to take): AP Literature, AP Gov./Econ., AP Stats., Physics for Engineers 2A at community college, Spanish 4 or AP Spanish, 2 Bands.
Awards: School awards for good grades, selected for Boys State program, Won the county math contest two years in middle school (don’t know if that applies to high school but thought I’d mention it).
Extra Curriculars:
-Cross Country 2 years
-Tennis 1 year
-Tae Kwon Doe 7 years and got my black belt (lots of teaching and leadership)
- Composite high school mountain biking team in area (we have been #1 in the state two years running)
-Junior Gaurds each summer (don’t know if that helps) - Have been part of almost every band at school because music is my second passion after math. The Jazz band that I am goes around the community and performs along with going to music festivals in Southern California with the concert band. We have a very competitive music program at the school.
