Engineering school safety

Gpa: 4.07 weighted (this is only from jr year since I attended an alternative school with no grades before)
SATs: just retook them but 1890 without studying
Rigorous courses: I took pre calc bc, ap physics and ap stats last year
And got 4s on both APs
I'm taking ap calc ab and ap biology this year, also a programming class next semester

ECs: president of Red Cross club, treasurer of strong women impacting society, president of book club, waitress for over a year, coxswain from 8th through 10th grade, I was an assistant coach last fall for novice (11th grade), led school assemblies of over 300 people during 9th and 10th grade
I also got a partial scholarship to attend a summer sustainability seminar at northwestern.
I'm a low income student and I'm also a first generation Latin American student .

I want to major in civil engineering (hopefully civil environmental but civil would work too) or industrial engineering.
My reach schools are:
Vanderbilt
Rice
U Penn
Northwestern
University of Virginia

I'm also looking at: university of Washington, u of Illinois at Urbana champaign, Tulane and u michigan

But I need safety schools!!! So please help

Oh and I’m a girl interested in STEM…

State of residency?

Have you looked at the net price calculators on the web sites of all of the schools to see if they are affordable?

Unweighted GPA?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1348012-automatic-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships-19.html#post16145676</a> has some safety candidates, though they may depend on your unweighted GPA. Cross-reference the list to list of ABET accredited civil, environmental, and industrial engineering programs at [Accredited Program Search](http://main.abet.org/aps/AccreditedProgramSearch.aspx/AccreditationSearch.aspx) .

Take off the OOS publics since you need aid. Only UVA and UNC give lots of need based aid to OOS students.

If your new SAT isn’t at least a 2100, I probably wouldn’t waste much time on those reaches. Maybe apply to one or two just to see.

Until you get new scores, it’s hard to say where your safety schools are. Safeties usually don’t give much aid and your current stats aren’t high enough for much merit.

Right now, your safeties are probably a state school that you could commute to.

Get the scores up and you have a good scholarship from Alabama. [Out-of-State Scholarships - Undergraduate Scholarships - The University of Alabama](http://scholarships.ua.edu/types/out_of_state.html)
