Olin also does a half tuition but its SUPER small (300 students). Webb Institute is free but it is even smaller at only 90 (yes, 2 digits!) students. Webb is only Naval/Marine engineering though.
My friend’s student is in the last year of the free tuition at Cooper Union (college senior class now). However Manhattan housing costs are sharp. Have heard good feedback from Olin as well. These two choices are very small programs for uber bright. They may not appeal to many, but do appeal to some wonderful students.
Really have to see what parents are willing to pay too. If they believe in cost-benefit, some schools (like OOS publics w/o merit) would be off the table because there are better options (those with merit, and the private schools with discounted costs).
One very good engineering school that gives great merit aid is Rose Hulman in
Rose Hulman - it depends. Just like many other schools - what they are looking for to fulfill their student body ‘diversity’, or some other criteria.
