You should come to California. Has everything Colorado has plus the beach and better forests up north. Honestly, if you just want to apply to VT, CU Boulder, CSM, and maybe some super reach schools (Cornell, Duke, Stanford, etc), you’ll be fine. CSM’s quality of education is quite high, and its career services are awesome. There’s also a pretty solid sense of community, if that’s of interest to you. University of Rochester may also be an option although I don’t know much about its engineering program.

ya im feeling those are the 6 or 7 im going for and I plan on going to colorado or california for grad school or for job if I stay here at tech.

South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. The outdoor recreational opportunities in the Black Hills region of South Dakota cannot be beat. Lots of biking and hiking trails. Mount Rushmore nearby. And the engineering departments at the school are darn good. Good national reputation among engineering firms. High Payscale rating. An all-round excellent school and excellent tuition bargain.

One of my D’s close HS friends is a Mines and seems to love it - it is VERY outdoorsy and I would be careful about overestimating what is a safety with your listed stats

Not that your stats aren’t excellent, but just that many kids with excellent stats are turned away form engineering programs

You can read up some data for making decisions for super reaches.

These are from American Society for Engineering Education. You can change university name to see information of other universities. Of these listed below, Cornell Engineering has the highest MATH SAT and ACT scores: (highest to lowest)
