I'm stuck on which college to root for. I'm not the best student out there, I'm not in the top ten of my school. But I really want a fresh new start when I go to college. I'm really willing to boost my potential and use it to the max. I'm a senior in high school and I took my SAT's once but I'm planning to take them again in October since my scores weren't what I wanted. I got a 1480 overall. I'm going to do engineering in college and I was wondering what the best engineering schools are, particulary around nj. And I will most likely will commute.

And I will most likely will commute.

If you’ll commute, then we need to know which colleges with eng’g are near your home.

That said, What is your GPA? Your test scores (if for all 3 sections) suggests that Eng’g may end up being too difficult for you.

Are you taking calculus as a senior? How strong of a math student are you?

My GPA is a 3.5 right now. And my scores are 410 for reading, 590 for math, and 480 for writing. And yes I am taking calculus this year as well as AP physics. I’m much better in math than in any other subject and I really enjoy it at times, which is mainly why I want to go into engineering.

If it weren’t for the commuting requirement, I would recommend K-State. They have a very strong engineering program and OOS tuition that isn’t killer.

Why will you commute? If it’s financial reasons, then you’re probably going to want to focus on public schools. Rutgers, NJIT, Rowan, and TCNJ all offer engineering.

Also try Temple and Purdue.

Why are you planning to commute? Is it because that’s what you can afford?

If so, then please tell us which colleges with eng’g are near enough to your home that you could commute to.

Any college search tool will tell you which engineering schools are withing commuting distance of your home.
