engineering schools

Hi,

I’m a rising senior and plan to major in engineering(either mech. or electrical) in fall 2006. I am an international student, and my estimated budget is around 30,000 dollars. I am searching for good schools located either in the midwest or on the east coast near washington. I have aldready got some schools, they are:

UT Austin
Georgia Tech
UIUC
purdue univ.

i also considered the following:

Cornell-too stingy with aid
Princeton-seems like a good bet since they are quite liberal with aid

my stats are as follows:

SAT 1: 780 M, 730 V, 750 W
SAT 2: Math 2C 800, Physics 780

GPA: 3.8(UW)
My High School does not give ranks.

EC’S:
Inter-School Swimming Champion - 4 years in a row (have won 24 medals)
Captain of school swimming team

elected to be a pefect

Inter-School athletics Team (2 years). Have anchored team to 2 relay wins

Member of Student Council (2 yrs.)- Co-ordinated effort by the school to raise 40000 dollars for charity by organizing a fun-fair

Member of school press club and editor of school newspaper and magazine.

Came 3rd at an Inter School Creative Science Fair(only team comprised of sophomores, all other teams were comprised of seniors)

Inter-House Quiz team( came 2nd)

Could you recommend any other universities?

P.S: could some one also tell me how Northwestern and Univ. of Missouri-rolla are for engineering.

also, could someone tell me how upenn is for eng.

There are many very good colleges for engineering and UPenn is among them. Some others you might look into (not an exclusive list): (a) Midwest: Wis., Mich., Rose-Hulman, Northwestern, Minn., Case Western; (b) East: Carnegie Melon, Princeton, Yale, Maryland, Penn St., Coopers Union, VA Tech, Johns Hopkins, NC State.
