engineering student with low gpa

Hi. I am regret that I didn't put enough efforts into my undergraduate studies, and now I have a C+ in differential, C in physics, C in caluclus II. I am basically done with my math squences. and most engineering/science/math class I get around B ~ B+ average. I am such a failure...

I want to get into applied mathematics as my graduat study, but I am afraid that I will get rejected. I know the most top ranked schools are out of my reach.,...

I am going to be a junior. I know I can work hard and treat my study more seriously.
I am a computer engineering major, btw. I am not sure what kind of math research I can do...

Please help me on this. What can I do to improve my stat. I do want to get into a reputable applied mathematics program. Could be Columbia, could be UCLA, etc

I did bad mainly because I was irresponsible, and spent my time on other things... the classes weren't hard at all...

I also know that it may be a plus if I work to boost up my chance...

Thanks!

Are you involved in research? If not, get involved ASAP and establish a positive relationship with the professor/mentor so that you can get great letters of recommendation that will convey that you are an intelligent person.

Also, now that you’ve realized your situation, now is the time to be responsible and only settle for A’s in your classes. This has happened to me many times in my career, and it is easier said than done. You really have to change your ways. This means getting rid of the habits that distract you. Even the little things count.

Good luck.
