engineering tablets

for engineering freshmen buying a tablet

which one are u buying?
how much does it cost?
does it meet requirements?

can ne one tell me whether getting a notebook with the necessary requirements and a electronic writing pad insted of a all in one tablet is okay or not?

appreciate it!

I'm buying the Fujitsu T5010 "2" from the bookstore, it cost ~$2500 and met all the requirements.
Link to the tablet: Virginia Tech Bookstore - Fujitsu T5010 2

I would recommend getting a convertible tablet notebook, it is required by a couple classes to completely write out your homework on the tablet, and to do that with a USB writing pad could be hard.

Hope this helps!

Son will be a senior this year and Grandma buys all the grandkids top of the line laptops with all the trimmings for a graduation gift. Her IT man picks it out, orders, etc. As my son is looking to major in Engineering or CS at VT or elsewhere, after reading the above, should she not buy one for him but find out what is required from the department he will be in?

Thanks.

Find out what's required, I don't think the idiotic tablet requirement is forced upon majors other than Engineering.
