Engineering Tech and transferring

Hello, freshman here

Right now i'm an architecture major that is interested in the engineering field. I plan on dropping the architecture major in favor of engineering. Problem is my school only has Engineering technology, but I plan on transferring to a school that has an engineering curriculum.

Now my question is, will engineering technology be a solid precursor to the engineering major? Are there any major differences (like courseload and concepts)? My second question is, is it better if i stay with my current major (architecture) for fall semester '09 or rather pursue courses that are more engineering oriented? (like mathematics, physics) to better prepare myself. I ask this because i wonder if my transfer application will look stronger if i stick to my one major (architecture) before i leave my current school.

any input and advice will be appreciated

No. Don't take the engineering technology courses unless you want an engineering technology degree.

Your best bet is to look up the requirements for the engineering program you want to transfer into, see which classes your current college has that will transfer, then take those classes. That will probably involve three semesters of calculus, linear algebra, basic lab science courses (chemistry with lab, physics with lab, etc), some sort of computer science course, etc. Then you can probably take some electives that will transfer.

Just take classes, and apply for a transfer. Your current major isn't that important, but I would make sure it's something at least somewhat technical (arch is fine).
