Currently in Mechatronic Engineering. Really struggling in calculus 1. Just spent 6 hours a day for the past 5 days studying for a test, and I failed. I know have a D in the class. I just am having serious trouble. I want to stay in a field where I have hands on work. I am thinking about switching to Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology. Is that a good major?
The simple test I do to determine the extent that a field has jobs is searching with the occupation’s keywords at a job website such as Indeed.com. “Mechanical Engineering Technology” gets 22,520 results today. Having recently seen 845 for Petroleum Engineering and 103, 600 for Computer Engineering, mechanical engineering technology seems reasonably good for jobs.
Judging from a few job descriptions, it does seem more hands-on than what a professional engineer generally does.
