Engineering Technology Q's

After taking a few courses at my University I have decided to make the transition from History to an Engineering Technology Major. I have thoroughly enjoyed the more hands on approach.

My University offers these Engineering Technologies (B.S. degree)
Mechanical E T
Nuclear E T
Electronics E T
Construction E T
Manufacturing E T

I had some questions to those of you who may be Technologist or who work with them.

Which has the greater job opportunity ( I will be graduating in 2 to 2.5 yrs)

What is the usual Starting Salary for a Engineering Technologist (I'd presume Nuclear would make the most money). I couldn't really find this salary cap on line due to most statistics show Engineering Technicians (2 yr degree) I'll be going for a B.S.

I live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area if that makes any difference. Thank you for your responses, I really look forward to reading them.

I think you should go into what you will enjoy the best. If you do like nuclear I highly suggest the navy nuke program upon graduation.

Thanks for the reply pal…I would really like to hear from other engineers/ scholars that have the answers to my questions. I need to make a decision by this friday, that is when I register for summer classes and I need to start with the basics of the majors.

Most engineers won’t be able to help. There aren’t that many Technologist programs, and unless you live in Texas, it’s rare for an engineer to work with a technologist. Your best bet is to contact students at the school. Talk to a counselor or a professor, explain your situation, and ask for advice. Most people tend to be helpful.
