Hi, guys! I am an international student, and I was admitted to these three excellent universities. I am not in the US, so I cant plan a visit. So, can you guys give me some advice?
Tamu is an ideal school, since a lot of scholarships are available for international students there. Yet, the thing is, I was admitted to the science college(math major) rather than engineering college which I would like to enter. Is it easy in tamu to change from math to engineering( say, like petroleum or chemical engineering)?

Also, uw-seattle and psu are good universities. Especially I was admitted to the one of the best programs in psu-material science and engineering. However, the out-of-state tuition is not so affordable in psu and uw, and they do not offer scholarships for international students.

And what about the academic atmosphere in those three?? Which one should I choose??

At most places, it’s quite possible to transfer into engineering if your GPA is high enough. As a math/science major, you won’t have any problem taking the necessary freshman courses, with one possible exception. You should check TAMU’s catalog on-line and see if their freshman introductory engineering course is a prerequisite to later ones in your major. If so, that could cause a delay because you won’t be able to take it until you are an engineering major.

The main difference between those 3 will be the environment, not the academic atmosphere. Seattle is a big city, while State College and College Station are fairly isolated college towns. Winters in State College are moderately severe, compared to mild or non-existent in the other two.

You should check in at the Texas A&M subforum to ask about changing majors and school atmosphere. [Texas A&M University - College Confidential](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/texas-m-university/) I think it is sometimes possible to switch majors before the freshman year, but if you are going to switch to engineering, you might have to wait until after the semester begins. You should really call or email the school to find out.

College Station is definately a more rural area, but the school population is so large that it feels like a city itself these days. It’s a friendly campus and there will be a lot to do on campus as far as clubs, activities and support. Also, the food in the main cafeteria is really good as far as college cafeterias go!

Good luck in your decision.
