engineering to aem transfer

just curious if any of you know how common this is

i figure it's not quite the difficulty of a seas to wharton transfer at penn

but as far as coursework makeup required, etc.

i am very interested in this… i dont know how common itis but on aem’s website, they give the required courses before transferring, and there is one specific to engineering, so maybe that’s an indicator that it is fairly common

also there’s a aem minor for engineers.

i really want to transfer, but i havent even started cornell yet. i feel like i have already made a mistake, but maybe trying to transfer immediately would be a mistake/ maybe waiting to transfer would be a mistake. eh

well give engineering a try first - and it depends on what major within engineering you are

i’m asking on behalf of my brother, a freshman, who is not having quite the fun time in electrical / computer engineering right now that he did his first semester - i think aem would be great for him, or at least the minor, but i would want him to consider operations research too

i think im going to take civil eng classes… that relates to management if i do decide to transfer.

i dont think the mechanical/electrical/chemical engineering majors are for me. maybe civil too, but i feel like it’s very different… =/

It’s not very common, but it’s pretty easy to do as long as long as you have an acceptable gpa (It’s definitely not what you need to do an internal transfer into Wharton). What is common though is that many people switch to operations research.

AEM classes are not very challenging so he can easily switch and still graduate on time.

I know someone who did transfer over. A lot of people try to transfer into AEM, so you need to have a good gpa and good motivation. Most of the aem classes are significantly easier than engineering classes.

There is a AEM minor for engineers, open to all majors except OR. This also requires an application though and is also somewhat competitive.

What GPA as a Freshman ChemE do you need to transfer into AEM? I’m hoping to apply for transfer at the end of Freshman year.
