Hey!! So I am a senior in HS, but still very indecisive of where I wanna go! I definitely know I want to major in engineering... My top 3 are chemical, civil, and biomedical. But can anyone compare chemical engineering of UCSB vs UCSD?
These are two schools I have been very interested in, next to Berkeley but Berk is a high reach for me right now. Although! I will not give up.
Anyway... about SB and SD... anyone have a say?

Supposively SB = super party school
SD = Socially dead..
Then again that is other peoples opinion... I would have to see if for myself, so i def got to tour the schools!

If u wanna go into chemical engineering, i would say ucsb. I am a ChE at berkeley now, i did a lot of research before. I was deciding ucb and ucsb, i loved the ucsb campus, its such a beautiful school. Regarding partying scene, school of enginnering at ucsb is really prestigeous, they have certain reputation, so dont worry about it. In addition, ucsb offers 5years chemical engineering and material science master degree, mention that ucsb’ material science program ranks the nation top 10. I dont know much about other majors, ucsd famous in its bioengineering,however,nanoengineering recently combined with ChE department, so all the facilities are not fully functioning(that was wat i hear a year ago) good luk.

I gotcha!!! I also heard UCSD has a kind of ugly campus… Then AGAIN i need to go visit it to see for myself…
Thank you for your knowledge!
Lucky you go to berk!!

Apply to as many campuses as you can afford. It’s cheap insurance.

Berkeley is tops for Civil engineering but all the UCs have good engineering programs…you really can’t go wrong. Cal Poly SLO and USC are also good options but competitive too.

i think the status of UCSD ChemE trumps UCSB by a whole lot. UCSD ranks 9th among our country’s engineering schools. shallow as it is, employers will judge you based by where you go to school. (i graduated from there, so you have my biased opinion - and i think the research is amazing) - but like RML above me, go where you think you’ll fit well. it’s 4 years of your life, and you should be happy during that time. if ucsb can make your college experience better, go to ucsb. it’s easier to get higher grades at less competitive schools, and engineering at ucsd overall is extremely competitive.
