I am applying to the college of engineering for UVA, Virginia Tech, University of Michigan, and Carnegie Mellon. I am a Virginia resident.

GPA: weighted: 3.843 unweighted: 3.6
SAT: Math: 800 Reading: 600 Writing: 620
ACT: taking in Dec.
SAT 2: Math 1: 790 Math 2: 740 Physics: 600 (taking again Dec.)
Have taken/taking
6 AP classes: English 11, English 12, US History, World History, Calc AB, Physics C
3 Dual Enrolled Classes/college classes at NOVA- Web Tech, Oracle, Adv Oracle (all A's)
Extra Curricular: Marching Band (also in band), Math Honor Society, Key Club, PhD, YUGA, Adv Robotics, Interact, Virginia Math League

I have also earned professional IT certifications in Web Tech and Oracle. I honestly don't know what use they have but it sounds good :).

Sadly no leadership positions except for being first chair band which is probably useless.
If you need anymore info just comment.

I think UVA is a high match for you, but since you are in state, you have an excellent shot getting in there. I think you also have a great shot at Tech and Michigan, because they won’t really look at your ECs and it looks like your academics are good enough for both of them. Carnegie is a reach, but not an unreasonable reach. If your essays are really good you have a shot ( would be even better if you applied ED) good luck!

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1418125-chance-me-duke-other-top-schools.html

Thx for you input :)

Definitely yes to VT. If you’ve already planned to UVA early action then I can see a good chance for you. But if you plan on going regular decision it might be rough because of your GPA. CM is a high reach, and UMich is a medium reach.

Oh, my class rank is 155 out of 654. Does this affect my chances of getting in? and would i have a higher chance of getting accepted if i apply for general studies or does it not matter?
