engineering vs. college acceptance question...

Is it easier for females to get into SEAS than the regular college?

Is the accpetance rate higher for engineering than for Columbia College or other Ivy League schools?

I believe the engineering accept rate is close to 30%; possibly even higher. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but the common MIT reject turned SEAS admit will contend that it's a more self-selecting group. I would imagine that females would have an advantage in SEAS. The college is pretty diluted with females as it is.

I'm not sure what the fact that MIT is harder to get into than SEAS has to do with the fact that any engingeering program has a more self-selective applicant pool than any non-engineering program.
