I have to choose between Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon (MCS), and Duke. Obviously my choice will depend on what major I decide to pursue. Everyone I have talked to always says "just do what interests you". But at first I only considered what would be good to do as a career. I am strong in math and physics. Originally I wanted to learn applied mathematics(to finance) and be a qaunt, mainly because there is a lot of math and they make a lot of money.

But now, im unsure if that will make me happy. The job just seems so boring since most of the time you're not creating anything new, but sitting on support. Also I'm afraid that if i figure out later that thats not what I want to do, my area of study will have been too narrow, and I wont be able to do much else with my degree. Also the future of the industry is uncertain

So now I'm considering being an engineering major or a physic major, because it seems like these degrees are much more versatile.

Any thoughts on this?

Also, At some point I want to run my own business and I am unsure if I can create anything new or marketable in Finance.
