Engineering vs. Overall GPA

How would employers/grad schools view a huge discrepancy between engineering and overall GPA? I started off at my school (an ivy league) with a 3.0 overall GPA--went through some personal issues and really messed up, actually failing a course...

However, I finally got myself together in one term after switching to the engineering B.E. major, and was able to raise to a 3.4ish overall GPA with a 3.92 major GPA.

A 3.0 overall is considered good for most employers. Your 3.92 in the major will REALLY stand out.

I would make sure that 3.92 is placed somewhere on your resume.
