Engineering weed-out classes

I will enroll as a Aerospace Engineering major, so what will my weed-out classes be?

There aren't any weed-out classes like other larger public schools have per se (meaning you fail at life miserably if you don't do well), however, if you don't do well in your AME-101 class, that's probably a sign to switch engineering majors.

Calculus 2 is the weed-out class for engineering and science majors, at USC and elsewhere. Not intentionally so, but there is a big fall out after Calc 2 where people decide to be business majors instead.

dt123, that's very true. i didn't believe it till i noticed the kids who stopped coming to class...

yes, i got quite discouraged after earning my C in Math-126 last week, BUT I'M STICKING TO IT AND FIGHTING ON!

What is the average GPA of engineering majors at USC? I understand that it is pretty low because of the "weed out" classes.

I remember hearing somewhere that the average GPA for all years/majors was somewhere around 2.99 or 3.00. I'd imagine it's similar for engineering. But that's purely speculation.

From what I understand engineering has the 2nd lowest average GPA of all the majors at 2.8. The lowest is architecture at 2.7 :)

Are you serious?! I'm starting to feel a lot better about my 3.3 in architecture! You made my day, 2+2.
