<p>How is the engineering department at Stony Brook? Is around the same level as University at Buffalo?</p>
<p>I think Stony (right now) is at the same level of Buffalo engineering wise if not a bit better. However, in recent years Buffalo has been rising in the rankings while Stony has pretty much remained stagnant, and low and behold, they are the same exact rank by USNEWS this year. But of course, rankings aren’t everything.</p>
<p>The Engineering program at Buffalo is stronger. But Stony Brook has a much higher rank, and has much better programs everywhere else. Unless you’re completely set on being an Engineer, you should probably consider Stony Brook over Buffalo seeing how it has other phenomenal research facilities besides the Engineering department.</p>
