Anyone know how many applicants they receive and how many they admit for engineering for freshmen? Anyone have any stats on admitted engineers?

This depends on the college. Some schools ask whatever you want to major in and factor that in so each class has some of each, but then you can change your major or can’t officially declare it for a while. Some schools require you to apply for admission into certain programs though you may be already enrolled in the school.

You have to apply as an engineer, it’s a limited enrollment program and is evaluated differently than humanities types majors.

Engineering is a limited enrollment program and from what I can tell it is pretty hard to get a direct admit and really hard to transfer later.

I read somewhere that UMD had about 17% of the student population were some type of engineer. I imagine that there is no way to really know how many apply but we know that 17% admitted should be engineers. I do know this program is very competitive. I would imagine to have a chance for a slot a students stats for M SAT better be 700 plus if they want a chance to gain admission. Maryland’s stats for CR SAT is 30 points lower than the M and it leads me to think it is becuase of the competition in the engineering department.

I would like to know too!
