Engineering

Is anyone going to this school for engineering? If so, what are you stats, etc..? How is the program?

I just finished my undergrad at CCNY in mech engr. I will continue with my masters starting in the fall 08. The school is very good, we use the same textbooks as the top universities, and almost all the professors got their phd's from the top universities(mit, stanford, columbia...). some of my friends went to cooper union, cornell and rpi and such for engineering and the quality of education is practically the same. The career center is excellent, almost everyone who graduated in engr with over a 2.8 got jobs. I would have to say the average starting salary not including signing bonuses is about 56k. The companies which hired most of the Mechanical engrs were conedison, boeing, ge, cummins...) Campus life, academics, quality of students, are all petty good and plus the school is undergoing major construction of new facilities close to campus. The school has been improving dramatically and the engr program is very solid. You will have to study alot and be smart to get a great gpa. Engr gpas are low dont matter the school, but if u put in the work you can surely get over 3.0. Just some of my high school stats, i had a 91 gpa in the top public school in nyc and 1410/1600 on sat, and i took a few sat 2's, got 600's and 700's. A few things to note, not many kids graduate from engr in 4 yrs time either due to part time work, internships or taking fewer courses a semester just to take it slow. I grad in 4 yrs and it wasnt too bad cuz i studied alot and put in the time. Just keep the gpa up and do as much extracurriculas as possible, companies like to see you took leadership roles in things.

Thanks a lot for the advice and experience! I'm going to do Computer Engineering as Undergraduate in the Fall! :D

What kind of extracurricular activities are at CCNY? What kind of clubs/EC did you do?

Thanks again!
