Will an engineering major have time to study a foreign language? Does it all just come down to time management, or is engineering too intensive to potentially get a minor in a language? Do you know of any colleges where engineers are encouraged to study a foreign language?

im going to ucsd, and i believe they require proficiency in a foreign language to graduate; im familiar with japanese; although my kanji isnt the best, i do watch a lot of japanese tv shows. ive picked up some of the mannerisms–i even talk to people from japan in a chat room once in awhile-- its a lot of fun–i speak to them in japanese, and they reply back in english haha

Python is a pretty good language to learn and relatively easy to pick up.

Did you study a foreign language in HS? If not, you may be required to take 2 years in college for graduation. Language study is time consuming so time management skills are important. If you have AP credit to clear out some classes on your schedule it certainly would help.

But getting a minor in a foreign language is different than acquiring proficiency.
