How rigorous is engineering at PSU? Specifically, computer engineering. Is it really studying 6 hours a day, every day? I don't have a problem with doing a large amount of work and studying a lot but I do have a life (not a typical engineer, eh?) so I'm probably not going to do work Fridays or Saturdays.

i really need to know this aswell, but from whative learned is that, if you attend classes and do enough study(i dont know how much) you
ll be fine with it. penn states engineering is pretty good so…
People around me are telling that uni
s in the states are very harsh, but i got a friend in mcgill the guy studies everyday and he almost failed the first semester.
i guess its all about you and how you understand stuff.

need help from psu engineers.

i’m the mom of an engineer but will take a shot at this since no one else has answered. the program is rigorous. you will be up late many nights and there will be some weekends when you will need to be working. having said that, my son has an active social life, a girlfriend and is involved with a couple of clubs. he probably has about a 3.8 gpa. (his freshman roommate was less dedicated to his studies and is no longer in the college of engineering.)

The program is somewhat rigorous. How much you actually study depends on you. I personally have never been the type to study 6 hours every night but I suppose there are those around who do. Overall if you want a balanced life, you probably wont want to study 6+ hours a day. If you’re intelligent, you can get by without 6+ hours a day.

Thanks CH, that makes me a little more comfortable about the whole thing.
