Okay, I was exempt from taking ENGL101 because I got a 670 on the SAT Critical Reading section. Some of my friends say to retake it cuz it will help a lot; others say don't cuz it's a waste of time. So what are your suggestions..?

i didn't take it; i was also exempt. from what i've heard it's a waste of time, and depending on your prof, is not necessarily an easy A. a lot of people who take it use the argument "if you get an A you can get out of junior english"... true, but no guarantees you'll get an A (even if you're a good writer, again it depends on the professor you get). also, junior english is actually somewhat useful because you can take a section tailored towards your major (e.g. writing for health professions, business writing).

so, if you think you have a pretty good handle on writing, my vote is for don't take it.

i don't think you should take it. my friends took and it found it quite boring and redundant! if you're so worried about missing out, read a book on grammar and essay writing, or something!

OK. Thanks!

easy A. gets you out of junior english. i am sure engl101 is easier than engl393.

uhh, engl101 to my friends was absolute HELL. do not take it if you do not have to. it is like lindz said, professor based. some hand out A's, some, via pickaprof, have NEVER given one.

stay away
