English 101 in 10th grade?

I am a freshman who just finished forecasting for next year and my English teacher asked me if I would be interested in taking English 101 at our local CC. I have always gotten an A in English (4.0 all through middle school and high school) but I feel that my strengths are in math and science. Should I do this next year or will it be to much? Keep in mind my school doesn't have an AP English class so I would have to take 10th grade English if I didn't accept the offer for English 101. Also, I am hoping to go to an ivy league school and/or MIT, Stanford or something of that caliber so I am trying to build my resume as much as possible.

Because you are planning on applying to some top schools and you do not have an advance placement option, it would probably be in your best interest to take the most challenging course load available. However, if you think you cannot maintain top marks in the classes you are most interested in (which sound like math science) as much as you would without English 101, I suggest bypassing it and developing your interest in math and science. It mainly depends on what you want to focus on. It would look good, but be sure to decide what you’re passionate about.
