I managed to get a 5 on the AP lit exam. I've been looking through the unc website and I can't find out exactly english 190 is. Does anyone know what the course is and if it fulfills any requirements?

Good question. My d, who will be a sophomore, got 5s on the AP-Lit and AP-Language exams. With her SAT scores of 760 in CR, 780 in Writing and 750 on Literature SAT II, I understand she should have been exempted from the first two intro Engl classes (101, 102) and rec'd 6 hours credit for those classes... plus rec'd 3 hours credit for Engl 190. The credit for 190 is yet to show up on her transcript and I can't find the description of the class either. It would be nice to know if it is worth the hassle of pursuing this or not.

Hey guys, Engl 190 doesn't appear to be a current class, but looking at the Undergraduate Bulletin (http://www.unc.edu/ugradbulletin/requirements.html) credit for it should count for the Literary Arts requirement. :)

This is correct. ENGL 190 counts for Literary Arts perspective. It is worthless for pretty much everything else though--won't help you if you want to major in English.
