I'm not going to post stats so you can be my high school advisor and find me the "perfect" school! I would just like some names of schools that offer, at the undergrad level, both Marketing and English as majors. This would be extremely helpful for me because at the moment I can only find ONE: Lehigh. Which is fine, because I want to be on the East Coast. But is there anything else out there at all? Thanks so much for any help...

Pretty much every state school will offer both these majors. They are very common.

Any school that has an undergraduate business school will work...I don't know of a single college or university that doesn't offer English as a major. Hardly any LAC offers Marketing as a major though (doesn't really fit w/ the LAC philosophy).

Some east coast schools with good marketing departments that offer English as well:

Boston University
Syracuse University
Georgetown University
New York University
University of Pennsylvania
Penn State University
Boston College
University of Maryland at College Park
Fordham University
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Fairfield University

Thank you so much for that list of colleges. I don't think state schools will work for me cos of aid (ditto with NYU-great school tho), and while I've found a lot of schools that offer things such as economics, not so many with Marketing. But I am going to start looking into the list you gave me so thank you so much!!

Duke has very strong programs in both.

http://www.duke.edu/web/english/
http://www.markets.duke.edu/

Thanks warblersrule86! At the moment I'm seriously looking into:

Boston University
Syracuse University
Georgetown University
University of Pennsylvania
University of Maryland at College Park
Fordham University
Fairfield University

While I love the sound of both Chapel Hill and Duke, the former won't give me the aid I need and overall I'm thinking just maybe they're too far south. But I don't know because I heard William and Mary has both Marketing and English. Even Design classes would be useful. Sometimes their websites are unhelpful :( ...

Please don't only look at the few universities I listed, as there are tons more on the east coast with the kinds of programs you are looking for (i also have no clue about English majors at any of those cools).

Also add Northeastern University to the list. THey have English and Marketing and not to mention their coop program :D

kcirsch: How do I find these schools? Apart from looking through books how else will I know which schools to find? It seems there are so many, and some I've never heard of, that I don't know where to start!

I'd recommend buying either the Princeton Review Best 3__ Colleges (i forget the current #) or the Fiske Guide, and just skimming/reading about each college on the east coast you MIGHt be interested in

Thanks! I will do that over Thanksgiving. I also found a couple more by doing a quiz on US News!

Wow, thank you SO much collegehelp (great name!). How did you know of all these schools? Is there a tip for finding them? :)

The College Board publishes a book called "Index of Majors and Graduate Degrees".

Oooh interesting. I hope I can find useful info like this when I go bookshopping next weekend!

Collegehelp: You sure about that list? I'm almost positive that Babson does not have an english major, and is exclusively business.

gatordan-
You are quite right. Babson has no English major. Thanks for the correction.

Miami (OH) is not a private school.

Does anyone know if Brown and/or William and Mary offer Marketing classes? Brown said to look at their class catalog but I couldn't find anythong on it and W&M's Business page wasn't working! Thanks.

UVA has a good business school
