English AND Theater - good programs?

Hi, so I'm a junior who is most likely to major in the following areas:

Creative Writing
English Literature
Comparative Literature
Theater
Women's Studies

My dream is to major in some kind of English major and Theater - what are some schools that have great programs in both and I could major in both of them?
I would also love to be in a city or very close to a city & will consider women's colleges. Here are some schools I am considering - do you know anything about their programs in English/creative writing and/or theater?

Columbia
NYU
Barnard
BU
Tufts
Bryn Mawr
Wellesley
Smith
American
George Washington
Georgetown
U. Chicago
Northwestern
Syracuse
Swarthmore

Thank you!!!

bump! and also add Johns Hopkins to the list…my college counselor tells me that they have a really good English program, dunno about theater though!

Do you want a BFA or a BA in acting? There is a difference and you may want to go to the Theater/Acting board. It will be harder to double major with a BFA, but you can with NYU. BU and Syracuse both offer BFA’s too and Northwestern has a GREAT BA progran. Hampshire College may be a good safety and add Mount Holyoke. Some other good LAC’s are: Sarah Lawrence, Bennington, Ithaca College and Bard.

Temple University.

Johns Hopkins may be a good choice for you.

World renown undergraduate/graduate Creative writing/Writing seminar program #1 in the nation, top 10 English literature AND top 10 Comparative Literature according to USNews and NRC rankings.

Hopkins’ theatre program is relatively brand new (started in 2003) and is the only university in the nation that I know of that has a “known quantity” of high profile actors teaching undergraduate student body (Director of the Drama & Theatre program is the famous John Astin, the dude who played Gomez in the Adams family)…

Carnegie Mellon’s Creative Writing and Theater programs are both highly regarded.

In a word: Fordham.

Fordham College at Lincoln Center is one of the most prestigious and competitive theatre programs in the country. It is also a rigorous liberal arts college with amazing English, Creative Writing programs.

Kenyon College may be another good choice.

Bard and Vassar though farther from a city than you might like

I’m surprised no one’s mentioned Connecticut College… it has stellar programs in both English and theatre (I think those two programs are its most highly regarded, but I’m not positive).
