My D is interested in creative writing and English. We went for a visit and found the class schedule rather odd. Pitzer and other non-Pomona Claremonts only were offering about 10 english classes with pretty generic titles, e.g. advanced poetry. By contrast, Pomona offered about 30 classes with lots of interesting content.

Is this by design? Do English majors at Pitzer take lots of classes at Pomona? Is English a multi-school major?

My daughter is also interested in creative writing and is heading out next week to meet w/some profs. Apparently they can cross register but only after the kids from that school have selected their courses. I hear it can be really hard actually, to cross register.
It is not a multi school major. Where else is your daughter interested? My daughter has been accepted to Oberlin but does not like the school’s location. Too bad as their CW program is superb. But it is her college, not mine. I can let you know what she finds out.
The profs however have been extremely helpful speaking to her.

We looked at Beloit, Kenyon, and Oberlin in addition to Pitzer. She really liked both Beloit and Kenyon. Oberlin wasn’t bad but the tour and admissions office were a little more impersonal and it was harder to get a read.
