English Class Question

Does UMich take mythology class as an english class??

When I was doing schedules last year, I didn't know that Michigan needs 4 credits of English so I changed my schedule, but my counselor said that he didn't know if mythology would count as an English class in UM.

My brother actually attends Michigan now, and I know that he took mythology in high school, so I think it counts as an english class, but I want to make sure.

it probably does, and even if it doesn't, they aren't going to reject you on that alone. I only had 2 semesters of a foreign language and the req. is 3 or 4

I have another question.
I just want to know if English being my second language is good enough reason for not taking any challenging english courses.
I have a weak gpa about 3.6 uw, but I took the toughest classes offered in my school, but I took easy english classes because I wasn't very confident in English.
But I have been in michigan about 6years and I don't really have that much trouble with english, so I was wondering if I should put that on my application or if it's not good enough reason.

Can anyone help me?
I'm not sure if I should explain why I took easy english classes.
Should I explain it in this question?

Is there anything in your academic record you should explain?

the minimum required coursework for admission)

or do they not care why I took those easy classes???

I ignored that question in my app. with my foreign language deficiency
