<p>I think you can do this - after all, the premed requirements are something that you do on your own rather than something imposed by MIT to get a degree, so whether you're taking the classes for fun or for premed requirements shouldn't matter. Double-check what I just said with someone official, but I would be surprised to hear that I was wrong.</p>
<p>If you're not sure about ELS, you can take lit classes, or creative writing classes, or scientific writing classes. "English" is a broad category.</p>
