english course requirement

So I've already completed one transferable english course. When I apply, do I have to already have completed the 2nd english course, or can I take it the following semester and let the UC(s) know so on the application?

Thanks in advance.

If you’re referring to the “seven course pattern” it’s all right here:
http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/transfer/tr_adm_r/tr_adm_r_deadlines.html

Yeah you don’t have to have two completed. as long you taking the 2nd one in the upcoming semester that will be okay.

yeah that should be fine, although they always stress that you finish the 2 english course and math course first

i fked up on my application =

i put psychology for reasoning and problem solving as my second english requirement… i did this because i saw that ucla’s articulation with a CCC and it said that psychology could be used as the second english requirement. so i just put that in the update… but my stupida** forgot to check the articulation agreement with other schools. :frowning: will this error affect me??

dbguy4eva,

Yes, because generally you have to properly complete the seven course pattern for admission. Last I checked, Santa Monica College still has late Spring semester English 2 online classes open. You might enroll and plan to complete one.

i dont think i’ll be able to drive to santa monica, thats a bit of a drive..

Online classes. (;

A course meeting the UC-E requirement should be system wide and not limited to a single campus. Check the course using the assist site. Choose your California Community College and the appropriate year. Select “UC Transfer Admission Eligibility Courses” from the links that appear and choose “UC-E English Composition” from the drop down menu. You need to have two courses from this list. If the psychology course is listed then it meets the English requirement for all UC campuses.

Thank you for the response!!
But one last question.. even if I’m coming from a CSU and there are no real articulation agreement, can i use the California Community College course to see if it meets the requirement even if it has the same course name?

Unfortunately no. The Assist database information is only applicable to courses completed at a California Community Colleges. If the course is completed at a non California Community College then you need to decide, based off the course title and description, if the course is an English composition course based off the type and amount of writing described in the description.

Yiks. okay. Thanks.

Edit: I just looked at the description from Mt Sac’s Psychology (PSYC 5) class and it pretty much matches with my psychology course at CSU Fullerton (PSYC 110). I just hope it’s good enough. Thanks for your time and concern UCD ADMISSIONS.
