<p>Does anyone have information about the English Department at Whitman? I read that two English professors plan to retire after the end of this year. Does anyone know if they will be replaced, or if these positions will be frozen as part cost-cutting measures? Thanks in advance for any responses.</p>
<p>My D is majoring in Art History and minoring in English, although she had been seriously considering double majoring. She has some incredible English classes with English professors that she thinks are brilliant. The major is challenging. The Mastellers, who are retiring, both have taught primarily American Literature. I can’t imagine that they aren’t replacing them. I’m visiting my D this weekend up in Walla Walla. I will see if I can find out.</p>
<p>I believe one of the Mastellers have already been replaced, though I’m not sure whether it is within the College’s budget to replace both of them.</p>
