I knew you were going to ask that! In Quebec, high school goes to grade 11, then there is a two year college system known as CEGEP (it's the acronym for a French name). Students get a degree from there and a year of credit toward university--in Canada, students from Quebec typically do three years of university after CEGEP. My daughter is finishing the equivalent of grade 12 this year, so she could just leave and do 4 years at Earlham. However, she really likes the liberal arts program at her CEGEP, so she could do another year there and then 3 years at Earlham, but we are waiting to hear from Earlham as to whether or not they will accept the CEGEP credits. If they will, it would actually save us quite a bit of money for her to do another year at CEGEP. I know other schools in the US do accept the CEGEP credits, so I hope Earlham will too.

I know on the facebook group at least 2 other girls are deferring a year. seems to be a popular choice

Hi Seagal, Well, My son loved his visit and had an awesome time. He was impressed with the atmosphere especially and how everyone was so nice.

However, he decided on his first choice college although he said it wasn't easy to let go of Earlham!

Good luck in the fall!
