English/? Double major-- A little help here

Well, I plan to go to UCLA-- I have hope of getting in. I am realist though, so I'm pretty much ready to cry of joy or cry of sadness in three weeks (more or less). But regardless of where I go, I want to major in English. I plan to go to law school after that, but I'm not sure. I've always wanted to be a HS English teacher and/or writer..

I was wondering what other major, besides Comm, do you guys recommend?

If you're considering going to law school, I'd double in philosophy. It'll help you analyze the cases better and think more critically, which could also help in English.

Philosophy and Mathematics majors tend to do the best on the LSAT.

That is true, but it is also true that many of the most talented students study math or philosphy. So it is tough to say whether or not those majors best prepare you or if that student could have done anything and still scored high.

If you want to be a writer then consider journalism.

What I can recommend is to take different kinds of classes and see which ones work for you. You might end up loving anthropology or history or sociology... Or realize that there are so many cool English classes that you'll want to fill your schedule with them.

I recommend Math. I think that's the best combination for undergrad anyone can have: English and Math. That covers everything, and they really do feed off each other. It's tough, but anything worth it is tough and you'll feel good about yourself after you're done!

I am currently a freshman and poli sci major at UCSD. Is it possible to get a good job in the finance sector with a poli sci degree?
