How weird would it be to do something like this? Im interested in a wide variety of topics and feel like an english and economics major would cover almost any of my future aspirations.

I am highly undecided on what I want to do with my life but am interested in business and writing.

Any comments on how tough/time consuming this path would be? Is it even possible? I know the subjects are seemingly not related in many ways.

will be attending vandy next year and wondering if y'all could give me any thoughts.

Thanks!

I know a few people at my college who are English majors and economics minors. They seem to enjoy it, but don’t confuse economics with business. If you are interested in some entry-level business career, learn accounting, marketing, etc. A degree in economics is not a gateway into a business career, although it certainly can be with extensive networking, etc. I would recommend trying out introductory microeconomics and introductory macroeconomics when you get to Vanderbilt next year. Only then can you gauge whether or not you’ll enjoy the subject.

I’ve actually been thinking of this exact combination. Does anyone else have any insight on this? Would this be good for law school?

As far as law school it would be an amazing combination. I like the idea of a double in english and economics. Considering that economics is such an important subject, yet widely misunderstood by the public, society could definitely use people who can communicate economic theory in a clear, meaningful way. Don’t expect to have a clearly defined career path with those majors. You will probably need to go to grad school to have a professional career, but I do see many options being open with that degree choice.
