Hi guys I just took an English exam for in school and unluckily I got an 80?.. It was on the summer reading assignment and I read our two books (I Am The Cheese) and (The Glass Castle: A Memoir). I even annotated both texts and I also read The Glass Castle twice! The test was a 40 question multiple choice and 1 short answer, I did fine in the short answer but I flunked the multiple choice! Everyone thought the test was so easy, others got like 90s to 100s… The teacher even said before I took the exam that it would be super easy, and the easiest that she will ever give! So is there any way I can get a 4.0 in the class (93% or above)?
Here are the grading percentages for the class:
- 50% Exams/Speeches/In class or out of class essays
- 40% Quizzes/Projects/Classwork
- 10% Homework
I currently am in the 10th grade and this class is not an AP or Honors class.
Also we’re going to have a Socratic Seminar (A debate which is also a major grade) next week.
??? Who knows? This is the first assignment, yes? Just do better…make it your goal to score as high as possible on everything else.
Don’t stress about the 80. I can assure you I have made serval grades around that in my English class and ended up with an A. Sometimes you just have to adjust to a teacher’s teaching style. Do they emphasize broad concepts or small details? Talk to your teacher about this and see why you didn’t get the grade you wanted. They should be able to help you make a plan to get better grades. I did socrative seminars last year. They are actually not that bad, so don’t be scared. I actually forgot to do a reading for one, read it quick during class, and managed to fine on the other parts. Just make sure you share what ever ideas you have because participation is the most important thing.
Good news everyone, I got a 100 on the Socratic seminar my overall grade is a 95 now!
I also did well on the quizzes (95+) so my grade increased.
