Hey

I'm 21 from Leeds in England, coming over to California for university but travelling throughout the summer around C.A first with my mate. Just wondering are there a lot of English at uni here or will I be a minority? Reckon it's easy to fit in etc? Also what is the nightlife like in C.A and where are the best places to go?

Thanks

I wouldn’t say there are tons, but you shouldn’t have any trouble making friends. The whole accent thing is a great conversation starter.

You might want to specify what city in CA you’re interested in–it’s a big state.

There would be a fair few if you were going to New England but in California there are not that many. You will start off as “The English Guy” for a while but that is not a bad thing of all the English speaking nations England has by far the best banter.

One thing to warn you about, the less informed Americans may ask why do you not have a “British Accent”? Americans think that RP is “a British Accent.” And you being from Leeds I assume that you have a more northern accent.

Everybody loves people with accents. Especially the ones that have a good grasp of English.
