Thank you so much Publisher, you’ve been very helpful with all your replies. 2 hours isn’t too bad for such beauty, and road tripping would be beautiful
“Quarter system” and “trimester system” are essentially the same academic calendar. Terms last 10 weeks instead of the typical 15 weeks. Trimester & quarter systems which expect full time students to take 5 courses at a time (just like the semester system) are quite demanding–especially due to the seemingly constant testing.
As an aside, Dartmouth College–an Ivy League school in snowy New Hampshire–only requires full time students to take 3 courses per trimester. This is a very nice system that allows for lots of socializing.
The most common in the US is the “semester system” which is 15 weeks long.
Haha, I’m decent looking. Luckily no buck yellow teeth, or any of the stereotypes that plague us lol
Nevertheless, I appreciate your input, it’s been incredibly helpful. I apologise if I sounded deragatory. That was not my intention by any stretch.
We have some good and bad!
We do have a lot of chavs to be fair
Haha; I’ll try and leave that talk back at home
Haha, very, very true words there
Not looking for superficial hookups, no. I never mentioned any sexual acts. I like beautiful women. If things happen, then so be it. Thank you for your input, it has been helpful nonetheless
Thank you!
Thank you so much! I was actually thinking about American Studies, so this definitely reiterates my decision. Oh gosh, my mistake! I meant college women. We just say girls here, and people just know we are talking about females our age
Thank you, it is likely I will. Very helpful words. Such a contrast to England. Very versatile place too. Thank you again, really appreciated. Have a better inside view of the universities now
Are you asking what I like about the College of Charleston ?
Based on your preferences, there is an imbalance of more female than male students (about 68% female), the city is one of America’s historic gems located on the seacoast, amazing restaurants & cultural activities without the headaches of a major city such as Los Angeles. Great weather during the academic year. Southern charm. Charleston offers a unique lifestyle in America. Savannah, Georgia is the only somewhat similar city.
Charleston, South Carolina is a great place to enjoy wining & dining surrounded by both natural & man-made beauty.
Easy to drive to South Carolina, Georgia & Florida beaches. As a road trip, consider a drive to St. Augustine, Florida. For a long weekend trip, consider the Outer Banks of North Carolina (tends to be windy. Kitty Hawk is famous due to the Wright brothers flying in the very early development stage of planes.)
I appreciate you clearing this up, I had no idea about this, as we have a universal system over here. I will factor this in. Kind regards.
Yes, I was curious, as I don’t know much about the state.
That ratio is insane!
And southern girls look so beautiful.
Thanks again, Publisher, you’ve explained everything so well.
Far better than the team at my university who are paid to inform us on study abroad institutions
Many people say girls here as well. Some people are offended and others are not. Many of the big state schools are going to have lots to offer and do. A big football culture generally equates to more school spirit and fun. I wouldn’t worry about how many students live off campus at these universities as that is typical and they live close by in student rentals. Few parties take place in the dorms due to alcohol policies. At any big state university you will find a broad mix of students with the majority coming from within the state. Generally speaking a strong Greek presence (frats and sororities) will correspond to the party culture of the university.
Many of your options are fascinating for various reasons. ASU (Arizona State University) is one of the largest in the US when measured by student population. Located in Phoenix, Arizona, most of the state of Arizona is desert. The weather is phenomenal during the winter months, but not enjoyable during summer months. (Too hot & too dry.)
UCLA would also be an incredible experience in a major US city.
The University of North Carolina is a beautiful campus with almost 29,000 students when both undergraduates & graduate students are counted.
Lots of great options.
P.S. Also, the University of Texas at Austin won’t disappoint.
MESSAGE TO ALL
I know in the world, you will always offend somebody, so I take your words into consideration and I never shy away from advertisity.
So let me clear some things up to try and provide a further explaination to any misconceptions or assumptions.

I meant women, yes. Certainly not high school females. In the UK, we just use the term girls for pretty much every student. We don’t differentiate as we know the person we are talking to already knows what we are referring to. My friends would know I meant girls our age when I use the phrase as it’s just the norm. Furthermore, I appreciate the education of the norm in America, so I will ensure I use the appropriate term when in the USA.

Explanation to a poster who suggested I may be looking for superficial hookups. Just to clarify, I am not. I mentioned beautiful ‘women’ (I’m learning) but never indicated any sexual relations. I like beautiful women, it will be great to meet people, make lifelong friendships with an array of individuals. If I meet any nice girls, and things happen, then so be it but I am not searching for ‘superficial hookups. Hope that provides some clarity.

To posters suggesting, I am being derogatory towards women. I just want to say, this was not my intention in any facet. I have the upmost respect for women. And I sincerely apologise if I exhibited any disrespect. I like beautiful women, yes. I do not feel bad for doing so, I am biologically wired to feel this way. But again, if any disrespect was portrayed. I again, sincerely apologise.
Hope this provides some clarification.
I’d like to also add, I greatly appreciate each and everyone one of you for taking the time to give a response to my thread, negative or positive. I struggled to find advice from people who know the American college as well as the you all do. I am so glad I found this forum, and it’s been paramount to me gaining an insight into these institutions and narrowing down my options. I could not have got an insight like this from any UK thread, or it seems anybody in the uk at all. So again, you don’t know how helpful you have all been, so thank you again.
Have a good night!
Or possibly evening/day where you guys are.
Don’t discount UGA which few have mentioned on here. Everyone who attends, loves the school. I would research that one as well.
You are selling me on so many colleges haha.
Wish I could spend time at each throughout the year.
But I’ll have to pick one!
So I hope I make the right choice
